Welcome to the Knowsley Health Promotion Network (HPN) which was set up in September 2003. The aim of the network is to co-ordinate health promotion activity and provide a vehicle for effective networking through providing accurate information, support and partnership work. The purpose of this website is to provide an information exchange for members of the HPN. The network links the main providers of health promotion/health development within the Borough: • Knowsley Health Trainers The network mainly operates across the health and local authority sector and aims to support all front line staff to work in a health promoting way. The network is linked to the Knowsley Healthy Lifestyle and Disease Prevention Forum via the “Health Promotion Steering Group” which includes, amongst the membership, the managers of the main Health Promotion Providers listed above. Health Priorities: There are four key health
targets for Knowsley - reducing the rate of coronary heart disease among
the under 65's, reducing the number of deaths from cancer, reducing teenage
conceptions and to increase the life expectancy of the population especially
amongst males. The Network currently consists of the following groups: Health Promotion Steering Groups – meets quarterly and includes membership from different services e.g. Leisure Services, Environmental Health Services and Community Development Team. Health Promotion Network Forum – membership of over 200 workers, offers a series of half day events and aims to provide networking opportunities for local workers and regular information updates and training.
